Environmental Product Declarations (EPD), Product Category Rules (PCR)

Within the foreseeable future designers and specifiers will demand EPDs for all materials and products used in buildings and other types of construction, and the requirement will be accelerated by new procurement initiatives such as Building Information Modelling (BIM). Work continues to ensure designers have the necessary numbers in a transparent EPD, that is in compliance with standard Product Category Rules. Chris Clear continues to represent the UK on a European Standard Committee (CEN TC 104/SC1/TG20) in trying to ensure that the Product Category Rules for concrete are as sensible and as equitable with other building materials as possible.
